We understand the concerns the Hong Kong community has on the water park incident in Taiwan, and we confirm that one of the injured persons is an AIA customer. To respect customer privacy, we cannot disclose any details. However, we are actively following up on this case, and will provide our best support to the victim and her family.
The main concern for arranging medical evacuation for a person injured outside of Hong Kong back home is whether the person’s condition is suitable for transport. According to the advice from the emergency assistance organisation appointed by AIA, based on their assessment of the doctor’s report in Taiwan, the AIA customer’s health condition as of yesterday was not suitable for transfer back to Hong Kong. We respect and understand the wish of the victim’s family to have the patient return to Hong Kong for treatment as soon as possible. We have arranged a medical aircraft that will depart from Taiwan to Hong Kong latest tomorrow afternoon, on victim’s family’s consent.
Lastly, we express our deepest sympathy to the victims and their families of the incident, and wish for a speedy recovery for the people injured.
