HONG KONG, November 19, 2005 - Over 1,200 children from different charity organizations today realized their dreams of visiting Hong Kong Disneyland by participating in the "Journey to the Dreamland" event co-organized by the AIA Foundation and the Home Affairs Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government.
Officiating guests at the kick-off ceremony included Mr. Alwin Lam, Executive Vice President of AIA Foundation; Ms Monica Chen, JP, Assistant Director of Home Affairs; and Ms Shelley Lee, JP, Former Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs. The officiating guests were joined by representatives of charity organizations taking part in this meaningful event. "Journey to the Dreamland" is the third mega event organized by American International Assurance Company (Bermuda) Limited (AIA) under the theme "Your Dreams Come True with AIA" with an aim to realize the dreams of its customers and people who are in need. The first two events, "Coliseum Dream Comes True" Singing Contest and the "Egypt-Pharaohs Exploration" program had been tremendous successes. Mr. Alwin Lam, Executive Vice President of AIA Foundation said: "The future belongs to our children. We are delighted to make the dreams of over 1,200 children come true through the "Journey to the Dreamland" event. In addition to organizing and fully funding this event, AIA Foundation has also mobilized more than 300 insurance agents and staff of AIA, as well as a group of young leaders to be volunteers. They will assist the charity organizations in taking care of the children for today¡¦s Hong Kong Disneyland tour. Their devotion fully demonstrates AIA's commitment in serving the community and reflects our spirit to give back to the society." Charity organizations participating in the "Journey to the Dreamland" event include Tung Wah Group of Hosiptals, Po Leung Kuk, Lok Sin Tong, Yan Chai Hospital, Yan Oi Tong, Pok Oi Hospital, Louis Program Training Centre, the Thalassaemia Association of Hong Kong and Hong Kong SARS Mutual Help Association.
