Help to Reach Every Financial Goal in Different Stages of Life |

April 16, 2007, Hong Kong - American International Assurance Company (Bermuda) Limited (AIA) today launched a proprietary system, 'AIA Financial Health Check', designed to assist customers to identify their financial needs in different life stages through professional analysis. It lays the foundation for a comprehensive financial solution from AIA that is tailored specifically for the respective customer's needs to help him/her reach long-term financial goals. 'Financial Health Check' is important for every individual, as it takes into account the various financial needs at the different stages of life, including income protection, accident and health protection, education savings as well as retirement planning. To ensure they have comprehensive protection, individuals should approach their financial health in the same way as they do their physical health check regularly. By identifying the financial needs and goals, they are able to develop an appropriate wealth management solution. However, the AIA Life Matters Survey 2006 revealed that the majority of Hong Kong people lack protection against the various risks in life. Almost half of the respondents believe they would have serious financial difficulties if they were diagnosed with a critical illness. In education, most families have not saved enough to finance a tertiary degree program and believe they have saved approximately half so far of what they think would be enough for a tertiary degree. A lack of retirement planning was also highlighted, with three-quarters of respondents admitting they either would not have or were not sure they would have sufficient enough money for retirement. Mr Jim Jan Zen, Vice President of Agency Administration Department and Director of Agency of AIA said, "The survey findings reveal that people in Hong Kong are not adequately protected in the event of income loss, and are ill-prepared for their retirement needs. They also have not grasped the concept of a 'Financial Health Check'. In view of this situation, AIA today launches a useful system, AIA Financial Health Check, which encourages individuals to assess their financial needs and acquire protection for life's different stages. With the new system, we can further enhance our professional service to meet our customers' needs. AIA Financial Health Check demonstrates our customer-oriented spirit and consolidates our leading position in the market." Making use of the system, AIA financial planners and representatives can carry out a tailor-made financial analysis for their customers, and help them identify their financial needs. With the findings, customers can then develop a personalized solution incorporating financial planning, and set a solid foundation to reach their financial goals. In conjunction with the software launch, AIA will provide its financial planners and representatives with intensive training to enhance their professional knowledge and ensure they provide the highest quality of customer service. AIA is one of the largest life insurers in Southeast Asia, with branch offices, subsidiaries and affiliated companies located in countries and jurisdictions including Australia, Brunei, China, Guam, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
