May 29, 2008, Hong Kong – American International Assurance Company (Bermuda) Limited (AIA) announced today that it has received the Gold Award for Hong Kong and the Platinum Award for Asia in the Reader's Digest Trusted Brands Awards 2008. Mr. Derek Yung, Senior Vice President and General Manager, AIA Hong Kong and Macau said, "AIA has consistently been voted for the Gold Award for Hong Kong since the introduction of the 'insurance company' category by Reader's Digest five years ago. In 2008, we also received the most prestigious Platinum Award for Asia, reaffirming AIA's position as a top-of-the-mind brand for Asian customers. These awards follow AIA's naming earlier this year as one of Hong Kong's Most Valuable Companies 2008 by the Mediazone Group of Publications, further demonstrating public recognition of AIA's superior products and quality services."

The Reader's Digest Asia Trusted Brand Survey was conducted independently by Nielsen Company and covered 8 key Asian markets: Hong Kong, Mainland China, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and the Philippines. Over 530,000 consumers were interviewed by questionnaires and telephone, in which respondents were asked to nominate their most trusted brand in each of the 43 product categories. Brand attributes were then rated in terms of 6 criteria: trustworthiness, quality, value, credible image, understanding of customers¡¦ needs, and innovation. Brands which scored clearly above competitors received a Gold Award. Platinum Awards were presented to brands which attained a score of more than 3 times the nearest other brand; or a score of at least double the nearest other brand plus an average overall quality rating of 4 or above in the 5 brand attributes.

Ms. JoJo Li, Advertising Director, Greater China Region of Reader's Digest commented, "Achieving Trusted Brand status is a genuine recognition of consumers' approval. The survey reflects consumers' choice of their most trusted and favorite brands among the thousands available in the market. The attainment of 'Trusted Brand' in both Hong Kong and Asia represents the high customer recognition of AIA's efforts in pursuing professional services and best of class products, and is a testimony to their brand building efforts as well."
