As our medical plan customers, our Medical Expense Pre-Approval Service allows you to be in control of your day surgery or hospitalization expenses. Under the arrangement of Credit Facility Service, you can enjoy a hassle-free treatment.

Our Network Specialist will consult you. If further treatment is required, the Network Specialist will submit a pre-approval request to us.

Once the pre-approval request is approved, we will notify the Network Specialist and you will be arranged for treatment or hospitalization. You will be entitled to a payment-free treatment by enjoying the Credit Facility Service. We will settle the pre-approved bill directly to designated hospital or clinic.

Remarks: Pre-approval Service or Credit Facility Service is not a contractual service but an administrative arrangement offered in our absolute discretion in respect of covered expenses incurred. It is subject to termination at any time without prior notice. Moreover, you might be required to provide credit card information and authorize AIA to collect shortfall of medical expenses, if any, from your authorized credit card account.

Please present Insured's identification document for verification. Before leaving the hospital / clinic, Insured is required to sign off the Medical Claim Form.

The service provider will send us the bills and we will settle the approved medical expense on behalf of you. Upon claim assessment is completed, if the medical expense exceeds the payable amount under eligible benefit, a Shortfall Notification will be sent to Policyowner and the shortfall will be collected by the following mean.

  • For day surgery: shortfall details will be notified to Policyowner in written and the shortfall shall be settled by cash, cheque or electronic payments. Please visit our website to find out more payment options.
  • For hospitalization: a Shortfall Notification will be sent and the designated credit card will be automatically charged with the shortfall amount 14 days from the date of the notification.
If there is any outstanding shortfall, all of the Insured's and your further Pre-approval Service, Credit Facility Service and claim reimbursement will be temporarily suspended.

You will be required to provide treatment information and authorize us to collect shortfall of medical expenses, if any, from your authorized credit card account.

The actual date of claim notification depends on the submission of required documents by service provider.

All the claims settlement will be subjected to the final bill and the policy terms & conditions.

We offer the Credit Facility Service on hospitalisation/day surgery in specific hospitals in Hong Kong, Macau, China and Overseas. View the list of hospital here.

Fill out and return the Pre-admission Form to us at least 2 working days prior having medical treatment. You will be required to provide treatment information and authorize AIA to collect shortfall of medical expenses, if any, from your authorized credit card account.

  • Once the hospital or surgical bill is pre-approved, you will be informed for the result.
  • If you accept the Credit Facility Service, a minimum of HKD 5,000 / MOP5,000 (depends on the estimated shortfall amount) will be held from the credit limit of the authorized credit card until the claim assessment is fully completed. Meanwhile, a "Letter of Guarantee (LOG)" will be issued to the concerned hospital and we will take care of the pre-approved expense.
