The Census and Statistics Department has released the latest monthly employment income data. The figures show that the latest median monthly employment income for Hong Kong residents (from November 2024 to January 2025) is HK$22,000, an increase of HK$1,000 year-on-year. The median monthly employment income for Hong Kong residents (excluding foreign domestic helpers) is HK$22,000. If your monthly salary is above this level, you are earning more than half of the employees in the city.
 
Breaking this down by gender, the median monthly income for men is HK$25,000, while for women, it is HK$20,000—a difference of HK$5,000.
 
The top three industry categories with the highest median monthly income are "Finance and insurance" ($38,500), "Public administration, social and personal services" ($26,600), and "Import/Export Trade and Wholesale " ($25,000).

Comparing different age groups, employees aged 35 to 44 have the highest median monthly income at HK$28,000. This represents a year-on-year increase of HK$2,000, or a 7.7% rise, which is higher than other age brackets.
