Frequently asked questions


AIA Club Alta is a prestigious loyalty program offered by AIA exclusively designed for our designated high-net-worth customers. Members can enjoy exclusive privileges and experiences across wealth management, wellness and lifestyle.


To become a member of AIA Club Alta, you have to be an existing policyholder of: 
  1. Eligible Policy(ies) with the minimum Aggregate Annualized Premium of US$100,000; and 
  2. new Eligible Policy(ies) issued in the past 3 years with the minimum Aggregate Annualized Premium of US$10,000.
"Eligible Policy(ies)" refers the individual life insurance policy(ies) issued by AIA International Limited in Hong Kong and/or Macau to the member as the policyholder, which:
  1. is/are effective after the cooling-off period; and 
  2. exclude(s) (i) general insurance policies and (ii) investment-linked assurance schemes (ILAS) policies issued after 31 August 2023.
"Aggregate Annualized Premium" refers to the aggregate sum of the annualized premium of all the Eligible Policies. The % amount of premium paid per each Eligible Policy shall be calculated in the Aggregate Annualized Premium as follows: 
  1. 10% for the single premium; or
  2. 100% for the annual premium.

No. You will become a member of AIA Club Alta on the first calendar day of the next month upon you meet the requirements of the respective membership tier of AIA Club Alta. 
 
If you have agreed to receive direct marketing information from AIA, you will receive a welcome email informing you have become a member of AIA Club Alta in the relevant tier and can enjoy the respective exclusive privileges.


The membership of AIA Club Alta is valid for a period of 12 months ("Membership Year") starting from the first calendar day of the next calendar month once the requirements of the relevant membership tier of AIA Club Alta are met.
 
The Membership Year will be adjusted when the membership tier is upgraded. Please refer to the section headed "Membership upgrade" at www.aia.com.hk/en/aia-alta/membership for more details.
 
The membership together with all the entitled privileges will be automatically terminated when all the Eligible Policies are terminated. For details, please refer to the section headed "Membership Termination" at www.aia.com.hk/en/aia-alta/membership for more details.


If you are still the existing policyholder of other Eligible Policy(ies), your membership will remain in effect until the last date of your current membership. On the last date of your current membership, your membership eligibility will be reviewed based on the Eligible Policy(ies) that you hold at that time.
 
When all the Eligible Policies have been terminated anytime during the validity period of the membership, the membership together with all the entitled privileges will be automatically terminated on the date of all the Eligible Policies being terminated.


To become a member of AIA Club Alta, on 29 September 2023, you have to be an existing policyholder of:
  1. Eligible Policy(ies) with the minimum Aggregate Annualized Premium of US$100,000; and
  2. new Eligible Policy(ies) issued in the past 5 years.
"Eligible Policy(ies)" refers to the individual life insurance policy(ies) (including investment-linked assurance schemes (ILAS) issued on or before 31 August 2023) issued by AIA International Limited in Hong Kong and/or Macau to the member as the policyholder, which:
  1. is/are effective after the cooling-off period; and
  2. exclude(s) general insurance policies.
"Aggregate Annualized Premium" refers to the aggregate sum of the annualized premium of all the Eligible Policies. The % amount of premium paid per each Eligible Policy shall be calculated in the Aggregate Annualized Premium as follows:

The initial batch of AIA Club Alta members admitted on 29 September 2023 ("Initial Members") are specially granted with an exclusive membership period from 29 September 2023 to 30 September 2025 ("Initial Batch Membership Period").
 
"Initial Batch First Membership Year" refers to the period from 29 September 2023 until 30 September 2024.
 
"Initial Batch Second Membership Year" refers to the period from 1 October 2024 until 30 September 2025.
 
The Initial Members can enjoy the relevant privileges entitled under the respective membership tier as set out in www.aia.com.hk/en/aia-alta per each of Initial Batch First Membership Year and Initial Batch Second Membership Year. 
 
If the membership tier of Initial Members is upgraded, the Initial Batch Membership Period will be adjusted, and for details, please refer to the relevant frequently asked questions (FAQs) section of this website.


If the membership tier of Initial Members is upgraded, the arrangement is as follows:
 
Meet the requirement of membership upgrade on or before 30 September 2024
If the Initial Member meets the requirements of the respective higher tier on or before 30 September 2024, the Initial Batch Membership Period will be adjusted starting from the first calendar day of the next month upon the member meets the requirements of the respective higher tier and ending until 30 September 2025 ("Sep 2024 Adjusted Initial Batch Membership Period").
 
All the privileges entitled before the upgrade of the membership in the lower tier will be forfeited on the date of the upgrade without prior notice. The privileges entitled in the upgraded tier:
 
  1. will be available for enjoyment in the Sep 2025 Adjusted Initial Batch Membership Period; and
  2. shall be renewed in every 12 months period from the date of upgrade until 30 September 2025.
Example:

Frank has been admitted as AIA Club Alta Luna tier member on 29 September 2023 (i.e. Initial Member). If his Aggregate Annualized Premium reaches US$350,000 on 10 April 2024,
 
  1. He will be upgraded to the Solar tier starting from 1 May 2024; 
  2. The membership period in the Solar tier will last until 30 September 2025.
  3. His privileges entitlement will be as follows:

    Membership period Privileges entitled under membership tier
    29 Sep 2023 – 30 Apr 2024  Luna tier
    1 May 2024 – 30 Apr 2025  Solar tier
    1 May 2025 – 30 Sep 2025 Solar tier
Meet the requirement of membership upgrade on or after 1 October 2024

If the membership of the Initial Member is upgraded within 12 months after 1 October 2024. the Initial Batch Membership Period will be adjusted starting from the first calendar day of the next month upon the member meets the requirements of the respective higher tier for a period of 12 months ("Oct 2024 Adjusted Initial Batch Membership Period").

All the privileges entitled before the upgrade of the membership in the lower tier will be forfeited on the date of the upgrade without prior notice. The privileges entitled in the upgraded tier:
  1. will be available for enjoyment in the Oct 2024 Adjusted Initial Batch Membership Period; and
  2. shall be renewed in every 12 months period from the date of upgrade until the last date of the Oct 2024 Adjusted Initial Batch Membership Period. 
Example:

Sally has been admitted as AIA Club Alta Luna tier member on 29 September 2023. If her Aggregate Annualized Premium reaches US$350,000 on 10 December 2024,
 
  1. She will be upgraded to the Solar tier starting from 1 January 2025;
  2. The membership period in the Solar tier will last until 31 December 2025.
  3. Her privileges entitlement will be as follows:

    Membership period Privileges entitled under membership tier
    29 Sep 2023 – 28 Sep 2024 Luna tier
    29 Sep 2024 – 31 Dec 2024 Luna tier
    1 Jan 2025 – 31 Dec 2025 Solar tier


No. All the privileges entitled before the renewal of the membership will be forfeited on the date of the renewal without prior notice and cannot be carried forward in the renewed membership year.


No. All the privileges entitled before the upgrade of the membership in the lower tier will be forfeited on the date of the upgrade without prior notice.


No. You will become a member of AIA Club Alta on the first calendar day of the next month upon you meet the requirements of the respective membership tier of AIA Club Alta.


The membership of AIA Club Alta is non-transferable.
