For new arrivals who have just moved to Hong Kong, taking the initiative to learn and upgrade their skills can significantly speed up the process of adapting to a new life.
 
The Employees Retraining Board (ERB) offers courses specifically for new arrivals, with training centers located across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories. These include Foundation Certificate in Cantonese courses designed specifically for Mandarin-speaking new arrivals, helping them adapt to the local job market and integrate into Hong Kong society.
Self-Improvement Courses for New Arrivals
After completing the Cantonese I Foundation Certificate for New Arrivals, students can proceed to the Cantonese II Foundation Certificate for New Arrivals and the Workplace Cantonese Foundation Certificate for New Arrivals to further enhance their proficiency.
 
In addition, the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) offers approximately 700 training courses covering 28 different industries. These courses are tailored for various groups, such as youth, women, individuals aged 50 or above, and ethnic minorities, helping them adapt to Hong Kong’s economic restructuring and re-enter the job market.
