Global University Rankings: Five Hong Kong Universities in Top 100

The British educational publication Times Higher Education (THE) has announced the 2025 World University Rankings. The University of Oxford in the UK has secured the world's number one spot for the ninth consecutive year, with the top ten universities all being institutions from the United Kingdom or the United States. Hong Kong has five universities ranked within the top 100.

In terms of mainland Chinese institutions, Tsinghua University has secured the top spot among mainland universities for the seventh consecutive year, ranking 12th in the world. Peking University follows closely behind, ranking 13th. Fudan University and Zhejiang University have risen to 36th and 47th in the world, respectively, with Zhejiang University entering the global top 50 for the first time.
 
The 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings determines institutional rankings based on 18 performance indicators, which are grouped into five areas: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, International Outlook, and Industry.
