Payment Connect: Instant Small-Value Remittances Now Available

"Payment Connect" has been officially launched! Friends in Hong Kong and the Mainland can now easily perform cross-boundary small-value remittances anytime, anywhere via mobile phone by simply entering the recipient's mobile phone number or bank account number. The funds arrive instantly—it's incredibly convenient!

"Payment Connect" is the interconnection between the Mainland's Internet Banking Payment System (IBPS) and Hong Kong's Faster Payment System (FPS). it provides residents and institutions in both regions with a secure, efficient, and convenient real-time cross-boundary payment service.

In the initial launch phase of 'Payment Connect', there are six participating institutions from each of the two regions. The service will be rolled out progressively, with more participating institutions expected to join in stages.

"'Payment Connect' achieves connectivity by linking the faster payment systems of both regions. This effectively enhances cross-boundary payment efficiency, facilitates economic and trade activities as well as people-to-people exchanges, and helps consolidate Hong Kong's position as an international financial centre and a hub for offshore Renminbi business.
