They also have their sights set on the three mainstream international curricula, such as the IB (International Baccalaureate), hoping to use it as a springboard to enter prestigious overseas institutions. Why do parents favor the IB so much? Let's take a look:

Hong Kong IB Curriculum: A Golden Springboard for Overseas Education?

The IB curriculum is widely recognized by academic institutions globally and can be seen as a "stepping stone" to prestigious schools such as the Ivy League. Studying the IB curriculum in Hong Kong also allows for applications to various local post-secondary institutions¹. There are approximately 70 schools in Hong Kong that offer IB programs, and in the 2024 International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) examinations, Hong Kong had 2,406 candidates².

It is evident that parents can indeed utilize Hong Kong's IB programs to map out a path for their children's overseas education. However, before deciding to enroll their children, it is best for parents to gain a more systematic understanding of the IB's curriculum features and assessment methods to make the right choice.
