In recent years, the Hong Kong government has been actively attracting talent with the goal of establishing the city as a hub for high-end global talent. As of the end of December 2024, the Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS) received approximately 116,000 applications, with nearly 92,000 approved. Over 75,000 high-end talents have arrived in Hong Kong along with their family members.

According to government data, more than half of the arrived talents have secured employment, primarily in managerial and professional roles. The median monthly employment income for this group is approximately HK$50,000.

Furthermore, nearly 20% of the spouses of these high-end talents have already secured employment, with the majority working in high-skilled positions. Chris Sun Yuk-han, the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, pointed out that the arrival of these talents and their spouses provides a direct economic contribution to Hong Kong. Moreover, over half of them are under the age of 40, and many have settled in Hong Kong with their young children. This not only adds new blood to the local workforce but also has a positive impact on Hong Kong's demographic structure.

Sun reiterated that while the government is actively 'vying for talent,' it will also provide proactive support and create a favorable environment for both local and overseas talent to thrive.
